People’s artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Hien,also widely known as Thu Hien, is a Vietnamese traditional singer who came to prominence for performing revolutionary songs with a sweet,  high-pitched and deep voice including Cau Ho Ben Bo Hien Luong, Quang Binh Que Ta Oi. She is one of the rarest singes who spent more than 40 years at the pinnacle of success as No.1 of the Northern folk music. She was awarded People’s Artist title in 1993.

Born in Quang Binh, Vietnam, Thu Hien started her singing career at the age of ten.  She went on tour with field music troupe during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. Afterwards, she worked for National center music troupe. She released numerous albums such as her first album Dat Nuoc Loi Ru, Nhung Tinh Khuc Que Huong, etc.

Thu Hien got married musician Truong Ngoc Ninh, has two children Anh Quan as a musician, and Huong Ly as a singer. She became the mother-in-law of diva My Linh in 1998.
