Widely known as an American singer and dancer James Brown, who had an influence on the development of several music genres is by most people regarded as the Godfather of Soul and one of the most iconic figures in funk and soul music of 20th century popular music and dance. James released 16 singles reaching No 1 on the Billboard R&B charts and peaked at No 1 in The Top 500 Artists of the Billboard R&B charts. He is also considered as the most sampled artist of all time by Rolling Stone with his unique vocal and musical style.

Born to 16-year-old Susie and 22-year-old Joseph "Joe" Gardner Brown, James Brown had various odd jobs full-time. He performed in the church choir where his powerful and uniquely emotive voice was created. He started his legendary career in music as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia and became a member of an R&Bvocal group, Avons, followed by group The Famous Flames, in which several hits released such as ballads Please, Please, Please and Try Me.
