Byun Baek Hyun is the lead vocalist on the promising boy band EXO under SM. Entertainment bebuting in 2012. He was selected in early 2011 to be one of the last members. His first official appearance took place in the 19th Teaser with Lay and Chen, the two other members. The music video "What Is Love" is made with his first contribution of main voice. In MAMA, Baekhyun is spreadwide with the nickname 'Sun Gun', which refers to his "shorts a gun" dance performance. Addtionally, he is famous for his light switch dance.

At age of 9, Beak Huyn made his decision to pursue professional singing and began to enroll in numerous competitions. When still in Jungwon High School, he had joined the school's band and attended several musical festivals, winning an award at a local rock festival. Beak Huyn was discorved by S.M. Entertainment when he was preparing for his performance in the college entrance exams, signed a contract to SM as trainee in 2011. He is a big fan of Bi-rain.
