Chartsiri Sophonpanich (চার্টসিরি সোফোনপানিচ) is best known as President and Director of  one of the largest regional banks in Southeast Asia, Bangkok Bank, the largest commercial bank in Thailand too. Thanks to his leadership, Bangkok Bank achieved hundreds of awards including Best Bank in Thailand and Bank of the Year award. For his great contributions, he was awarded the Banker of the Year award from Thailand’s Money and Banking magazine in 2001, the Achievement Award for Leadership in Thailand from the Asian Banker magazine in 2005.

Born to Chatri Sophonpanich and the grandson of Chin Sophonpanich, the founder of Bangkok Bank. With that prominent family, Chartsiri Sophonpanich without a doubt would succeed his family to make it big. Chartsiri Sophonpanich   gained a Master’s Degree in Management from Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. Before being appointed President in December 1994, he took on a numerous senior management positions in Bangkok Bank. He has his aunt, the politician Kalaya Sophonpanich.
