Additionally, his music is Jamaican dancehall and has had influences from the regional scene, including UK drills. He credits his father for singing on his rap mixtapes, which have become a staple in his musical repertoire. His incorporation of melodies into technically complex songs was championed by Lil Wayne, and has subsequently been a critically acclaimed feature on Drake's singles and albums. Feuds

Chris Brown
In June 2012, Drake and Chris Brown were allegedly involved in a physical altercation when Drake and his entourage threw a glass bottle at Brown at a Soho nightclub in Manhattan, New York City. Chris Brown tweeted about the incident, and criticized Drake in music as far back as 2013, including "R.I.P." Remix. Despite any backlash from Drake, he and Brown both appeared in a comedy skit for the 2014 ESPY Awards, and practiced comedy together prior to the telecast, effectively ending the controversy. The pair later collaborated on "No Guidance" in 2019.

Puff DD

In December 2014, Drake was involved in another altercation when he was punched by Diddy outside LIV nightclub in Miami, Florida. The dispute reportedly centered around Drake's use of the instrumental for "0 to 100 / The Catch Up", allegedly produced by Boi-1da for Diddy, before Drake appropriated the track for his own use. Drake was later taken to the ER after escalating an old hand injury during the altercation. Drake was involved in a feud with Tyga stemming from Tyga's negative comments about him during an interview with Vibe magazine.  Drake later responded on "6 Gods" and "6PM in New York", which were interpreted as directly related to Tiger's sudden departure from Young Money Entertainment.

Humble match

Further controversy arose in July 2015 when it was alleged by Meek Mill that Drake used ghostwriters during the recording sessions for "RICO", the lead single from Mill's second studio album. It also alleges that Drake did not help promote the album, due to discovering Mill's ghostwriter, widely believed to be Quentin Miller. Despite Miller collaborating with Drake and receiving past credits, Mill assured Miller that "R.I.C.O." Drake wrote the verse for it. Soon after, Funkmaster released reference tracks in support of Flex Mill's claims, notably "R.I.C.O.", "10 Bands" and "Know Yourself". This prompted Drake to respond with two diss tracks titled "Charged Up" and "Back to Back" four days apart. Mill would later respond with "Want to Know" before being removed from SoundCloud weeks later. Following several outstanding disses  from either artist, Funkmaster sought to denounce Flex while performing in New York (Flex's home state) on Drake's Summer Sixteen tour. After Mill's prison sentence for a probation violation, Drake sang "Free Meek Mill" at a concert in Australia and ended their rivalry in "Family Feud";

Pusha T

would use the same argument to criticize Drake's "Infrared" in 2018,  leading Drake to respond with the diss track "Duppy Freestyle" on May 25. Pusha T responded with "The Story of Adidon" on May 29, which presented various claims and revealed Drake's paternity. Drake has yet to respond to "The Story of Adidon," with the pair believed to have been in a rivalry since 2012 as a result of Pusha T's feud with Lil Wayne and Birdman.

Joe Budden

In 2016, Drake was embroiled in a feud with Joe Budden, stemming from Budden's disparaging comments while reviewing Views. Drake reportedly responded to Budden with "4PM in Calabasas", prompting Budden to respond with two diss tracks five days apart, echoing the same sentiment Drake deployed during his feud with Meek Mill. Drake would later appear on "No Shopping" with French Montana, directly referencing Budden throughout the song, though Montana claimed that Drake's verse was recorded before Budden's diss tracks were released. Despite Budden releasing two more songs referencing Drake, he has yet to officially respond to Budden. That same year, Drake dissed Kid Cudi on "Two Birds, One Stone" after Cudi launched into an irony-filled rant about the artist on Twitter. Cudi later checked into a rehab facility after the song's release, and continued to insult Drake in more tweets.

Kanye West

In mid-2018, Drake became embroiled in a feud with longtime collaborator Kanye West. In an appearance on The Shop, Drake described several meetings with West, who expressed a desire to "be Quincy Jones" and work with Drake and replicate the producer-artist relationship between Jones and Michael Jackson. West begged Drake to play and informed him of the upcoming release, while he gave Drake parts for "Lift Yourself". West urged the pair to work in Wyoming, a day after Drake reached out to the 40-year-old's close friend, who said West was recording an album instead. Judging by the duo's differing release schedules, Drake traveled to Wyoming, but "only worked on Western music"; After Drake's West played "March 14," they addressed Drake's relationship with his newborn son and co-parents. This prompted a conversation with West about his personal issues, after which Pusha T would reveal the news about his son, West released "Lift Yourself" as a single and produced "Infrared". Drake then denounced West in songs and live performances. West would retaliate in a series of tweets in late 2018, and the pair continued to respond on social media and music in late 2021, including Drake leaking West's song "Life of the Party". During their feud, West and Drake publicly attempted to reconcile, which reportedly occurred after they co-headlined a benefit concert in December 2021.

Business magazine Forbes commented his endorsement deals and business partnerships "combined heavily" for Drake's reported pre-tax earnings at $94 million between June 2016 to June 2017, being one of the highest-paid celebrities during that period.
